Soccer World Cup 2010

Thailand

Thailand is the powerhouse of football in South East Asia.

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has a primary aim of taking Thailand to the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 or the 2014 World Cup in South America. In the shorter term, the FAT aims to have the Thai team reach the semi-finals at both the Asian Games in December 2006 and the Asian Cup in 2007. FAT's secretary-general - Worawi Makudi - plans to bring Brazil to play a match in Thailand in September to celebrate the 60th year of His Majesty the King's (Bhumibol Adulyadej) accession to the throne.

In 2000 Brazil, with players like Rivaldo, Emerson and Ronaldinho, played in the 31st King's Cup where they thrashed the Thai national team 7-0.
