Football Federation (FFI) President Mohammad Dadkan was fired right after the Angolan match in Soccer World Cup 2006 by the Iranian Sports Organization (STB). The STB is part of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government, currently led by his deputy Mohammad Aliabadi. The FFI president is appointed de facto by the Iranian government.
According to FIFA rules, governmental organizations are not allowed to have any interference in football affairs.
